The stupidest thing I ever did in my life was try to hurry up with college. (as it turned out to be useless)

Take a year off, travel a bit, work on a plan then come back if you want.

If I was 18 again and knew what I know now, I would have headed off to Europe right away traveled a bit and then looked for some under the table job soemoplace that I liked.

Since I never really got a career type career until I was 32 I would have probably done better , and had more fun.

But hindsight is perfect and the situation might be different for you.

I read the PDF of the “interview” and my take on it is that anyone who writes someone with a Blog about PMCs and says that she wishes her group to remain “Anonymous” sure picked a dumb way to do it.

The woman she e-mailed was right about the Haitian coffee being good..But to me I can’t see enough money being in Haiti to make it worth their while and all the secret stuff that she talked about was just odd.

Part of me was thinking that maybe she is trying to make a name for the company by refuting allegations. Perhaps it is a field where if you are a bit sketchy there is no such thing as bad publicity?

But like I said it seems a bit “off”.

I’d like to see someone here who actually knows PMCs (or whatever the hell it is that company claims to be) to read the pdf of the e-mails between the owner of the site and the company rep in Haiti. Perhaps there is something that I am missing.

      That is just weird.

Lots fo rumors going around and lots of people getting shot in Cite Soliel, but one of the only incentives to fight for in Haiti is “aid” and to me it doesn’t make sense why American Mercs would be hanging out in the shit-brown waters off Cite Soliel to shoot poor people.

But then again , Haiti is weird enough for it to happen.

Or the other side. ..I think Haiti is dangerous and deserves to be on the list. Nick does not , yet we have both been there and we both are correct.

My comms system is online Jefe. We are using the State-Of -The-Art Canadian internet backbone to route US based numbers through Vancouver. The sound is great. Not as good as a local call on a high quality POTS landline but better than some long distance calls and better than all cell phones (and much better sound quality than Vonage)

      The disadvantages are:

No 911 service is linked to a specific address . So you can call 911 but you have to give your location..

I can only sell US phone numbers.

But if you had acess to a high speed internet and would liek to call a relative in the states while over seas you could get a local number of the person who would call you the most, plug in the adapter and for $15 to $25 a month you would have 500 minutes to unlimited minutes to anywhere in the US and Canada and dirt cheap international calling.

Right now we are just re-sellers as a way to earn some extra bucks while we do our real jobs but we hope to be able to lease our own internet backbone to have total control of the network and be able to offer international numbers someday.

browse around here for more information.

You may want to check out the long distance rates as well.

      And:

I am going to try to get to Dubai soon if a freelance gig I am working to get comes through.

There is a whole thing about Game Theory that tries to predict this as well. Scowcroft is a big fan of it but the problem is that using it in certain politcal climates will often invite accusation of “sympathising” with the terrorists by trying to think like them…I would imagine that these thinkers have found a haven in the Insurance Business and it would be worthwhile to listen to what they have to say.

True. But I have a very strict “NO SHINEY THINGS” rule in life.

I’d rather sell them coffee & beer…make friends and make money that way.

There are files that can be compromised with a scripted attack.

      usercp_register.php’
      login.php
      search.php

Plus this is on top of a code-audit by the development team, so it is likely that 2.0.18 not only corrects the flawed files above but will decrease the likelyhood of it being as easy to crack phpBB2 boards as it has in the past.

Like I said, its a huge job and lots of board admins are going to not do it, so the hackers are going to have a field day with this,

And for those of you keeping track:

The BFC is down again. The webhost changed the permisions on a file and I can’t edit it. I am pissed off.

So if anyone asks you, direct them here.

I am going to try to have it up tommorrow sometime.

For some reason it get entered twice in a section called “ban control” (which I fixed last time) and User Names (which I forgot to check)

So it is now corrected. Sorry for the problems.

I was working alot this past week. (still am)

And I got a kajillion PMs from posters who ratted Mach out to me while I was being busy because he would either log in and just send people PMs pretending to be new (or not, depending on who he sent them to )..so yah, he can’t avoid his style or his old topics.

Also if you have Unix you can put the DB backup in a text file and search for a pattern of writing. (maybe google desktop can do that as well)
