No prob, I’ll send some over once I get back. Frankly I went to Turkey in March and just got around to putting them up on my own site a day or so ago.

I was there for 2 weeks a few years ago and I would suggest seeing Kandy. It’s a nice town with the Temple of the Tooth, (Where they keep buddha’s tooth), the largest Buddha in the world (or was it tallest?), and is an ok place to take trips from.
On the whole I found Sri lanka nice, but not exceptional. If you want to hang out on the beach you can go down to Hikadewa.
Adams Peak was pretty cool. It’s a pilgrimage site where you wake up at about 3am to hike up a mountain and then you watch the sunrise from the top. It’s remarkable because you are high enough to actually see the clouds change as the heat of the sun hits them. That was probably my most memorable point from the trip.

I was there in 2003 and and it was no more or less schetchy then anywhere else in India.
I stayed at a place on the water and there is nothing so… as drinking a liter of beer and pondering what exactly is floating down the river infront of you.
Out of 4 months over there it was definitly a high point.

Although I’m interested in Syria I don’t have enough time on this trip. I’m thinking maybe I can fly from Istanbul to Sanliurfa and then wander back east. Do you know what internal flights are like?

I just read up on it and it sounds great. I’m just a wee bit concerned about it being so close to Syria/Iraq. Is there much real concern in this?
I nearly didn’t make it back from my last trip so I’m being a bit more cautious this time out.

This is how I ended my trip to Thialand. 4 months were cut down to one after a night I literally cannot remember. Who knows how many stitches, 1 broken tooth, three chipped teeth and I was spitting out blood for three weeks afterwards.
In the words of my old drill sergeant, “Stay alert! Stay alive!”

I’ll probably stay in the south western area because of the season. I’ll hit the areas between Istanbul and Cappadocia. I would like to see the eastern side, but it looks like it will be damn chilly this time of year.

Sorry… I wasn’t trying to step on any feet or such. After I have posted pics of third world places on my website and posted it here, some people stated they liked the other pictures. Frankly I thought the topiary was a curious enough thing that some people might find it interesting.
If you want to be STRICTLY third world, that’s cool. I’m just passing along what I honestly thought someother people on here might like.
Cheers,
Eli
