Due to some “Dilbert-like” bullshit at work where I was reprimanded for actually following security policy for making people “angry” (like the ones who I caught doing something wrong and dumb). I’ve decided to bail for someplace that understands and appreciates investigation more than “feelings”.
I am going to try to use my knowlege of Romanian “hackers” to see if I can get something there…it finally made the news about what I have been saying for two years about the geeks there.
Or pretty much anything.
If you folks hear of anything, lemme know.
Thanks,

If I understand it right so is Europe no problem for you.
You are a IT-sec tech or something close right?
No promises, but I will keep an ear to the ground for you.

Kurt,
There’s loads of high paid work for network security specialists in the SE of England.
Dunno if the UK pulls your chain, or what the work visa reqs are, but you could do much worse.I’m a Senior Tech Consultant, specialising in Cisco networks, so I have a good knowledge the current climate in the industry.
Let me know if you’re interested and if so, I’ll get a couple of job specs and salaries for you to peruse.
(Ever thought of approaching Cisco Systems? They might be right up your street.)
Cheers,
FP.

I probably work in the only “Cisco Free” work enviroment there is. I just know a few IOS commands but just from my readings.
England would be a fine place to work IMO. Travel to NYC would be cheap, travel to Africa would be cheaper than from NYC (I have not been there yet and I want to go) and I would be closer to my family in Norway.
In a nutshell what I am good at is backing up data (a skill that is always useful) using either commercial utilities or the basic Unix ones.
The new stuff I am doing is working with snort…a fairly complicated Intrusion detection system that is free.
I can do any Unix firewall but never used any of the more common Cisco ones *grumble*.
My most notable achievement was port scanning all of the IP numbers of northern Columbia when RYP was a guest of the AUC and finding a number of IBM RS 6000 mainframes. I found out a few weeks ago that Cocaine producers use RS 6000 for accounting because of the volume of cash they deal with,

Kurt you need to peruse the overseas jobs for computer security, networking etc. Check out singapore and Bangkok specifically. Also check into the cell phone giants like Nokia. Pay may not so great but cost of living is cheap and you’d get to travel a lot.

It gave me a laugh. ;) And might give some career guidance too.
