Hi you guys
Just back in from the field in West Darfur about 20 Km from the Chad border. A most interesting week of staying awake at night listening to the gunfire out on the streets as the Janjaweed showed who is really in control of the town, of dealing with evacuation plans and scenarios for our aid agency as it looks like the s$@t might hit the fan with Chad pretty soon, of waiting by dirt airstrips lined with crashed Russian Antonovs from previous failed landings and wondering what might go down on our take off (nothing did, but the adrenaline on take off past the Aeroflot carcasses was a rush).
In the relative security of Khartoum now although as Sudan has just lost the AU presidency there is some resentment boiling below the surface here. Back in the UK at the weekend (insh’allah) and will write this up for you in more depth when I’m home.Hang loose y’all

Thanks for the update V,
Looking forward to another PBs article.
When are you off to Kashmir? Time for a beer before you leave?

Provisionally booked for 16 Feb to Islamabad. Maybe we could try a lunch in London one day. Weekends at home will be pretty busy.
Will enjoy the heat while I am here. Kashmir promises to be Arctic!
