Where would you kick back to live for a few years where your dollar can stretch further?

SE Asia wins by a mile.
Eastern Europe: Bulgaria, Moldova, Romania and Albania.

Only prob for me is the slow internet in SE Asia.
Being an addict means I like to have fibre optic cable hooked straight to my brain. :(

No Africa on your list.
Rwanda is an incredible place to go and live. I even looked at property prices there, when I returned last.

For me it would be a choice between S.E. Asia and a banana republic in Centeral Merica. I could not live in Africa.

Depends where you buy…
A shack in downtown Kigali is going to set you back a few hundred quid… But you can spend a million on a mansion overlooking the lake in Gisenyi. Property isn’t necessarily too cheap, because there is a strong expat community driving the prices up. But cost of living is very low.My choice would be a small plantation near the lake in Kibuye. Incredibly beautiful town, with an unimaginably horrific history. (90% Tutsis wiped out in ’94).
Didn’t get so far as to find out how much a plantation would cost, but if I sold my place in Portugal, I’m sure I’d have enough to buy something quite nice and even have a bit left over to get me a speedboat! 8)

I keep threatening everyone I know around work and home that I’m going to pack it up and ship off to Asia or Central or South America and live for cheap off the grid.
Mark my words!! I’m gonna do it!!
You just watch me.

Ecuador: (Guayaquil)
Gasoline 95 octane $1.45 US (They have dollarized here) Diesel less than $1 US
Luxury Beachfront Apartment, furnished $500 US/month (I prefer the slums, you can get a river front house, fully furnished for $200 US including utilities)
Restaurants $2-$8 US for a meal that will feed 2-4 people.

Rob,
Good wireless services everywhere, and the connections are fast
Stiv, espanol is indeed necessary, however there is no lack of people who are keen to practice their English

I turned off the requirement to log in.
Until I get sick of the spammers.
Then it goes back on.
