Well, finally got here after much waiting around in Herat for the blasted Ariana Airlines to get me a seat i should’ve had a couple days earlier. Would’ve got to Kabul earlier if i had gone via Kandahar by taxi/wagon, apparently a tortorous 3 day trip. Herat is a nice place tho. Kabul is, well, expensive. Will explore it shortly. But they do have beer here, although whether Foster’s can be included in that category is another matter.

Good luck Kramer. I know you are a big boy and all, but have some good friends over there who could set you up with vetted escorts/drivers if you would like.
Have a good trip and try not to get giardia!

I hung out with one of Jefe’s friends in Romania and it was really great.
You also may want to inform Laal Khan on the BFC that you are in Kabul too..you might be able to hook up with some of his people.

Look around Chicken St., with some barganing you should get em for USD$ 2.50 a can but check the date on the bottom, as I posted befor, I got stuck with 10 cans of beer, vintage 1992 :o But then, any port in a storm :D I posted on the BFC a while back a story I picked up in the Canadian media conserning an Irish pub that opened in Kabul so ask around.

Jefe…thanks for the offer. I’ve actually hooked up with a photographer friend of our William Plowman and he’s set me up with a car and driver.
Kurt….yeah, Laal put me in touch with one of his mates and just had lunch with him.
Rickshaw…..they actually closed the irish bar down, fearing it would be attacked.

Let me know how that goes. He offered the same to me and while I always like to meet new people had planned on meeting any referrals from him (despite his polite professionalism) with a couple of hidden gunmen overwatching me.
Not to be rude, but gotta be careful!
Pls advise how it goes and have fun!
