I didn’t get any response over at the BFC, but there usually are more explorers / adventurers over here that might be Interested in this.

Geek Corps, Peace Corps for IT folks

This might be an interesting thing for any fellow IT folks to get in on. I read about them in Business 2.0, you go on 4 month assignments in 3rd world and developing countries and use your IT skills to help out local communities. All expenses are paid for (flights, housing, spare cash, ect.), it is kind of like “Peace Corps” for IT professionals. Looks like a good chance to see the world and help out at the same time and since the hitch is only 4 months most people could probably get a leave of absence from work.

Hmm.. they seem to be looking for fairly highly qualified individuals – i wonder how many applicants they actually get.
