I am very interested in Ingushie and Chichenia there are places with many difficultiies and they want to be out of Russian because they have their traditions very strong and they will not change it anyway , my boyfriend its Ingush and i am mexican who in the world would think that this can happend , its good your report of Caucasian people its good that somebody cares.

Thank you for your incredible story on this AMAZING, yet sadly forgotten about sociaty. I am 28, Momma of 8 & in College for my Medical degree here in the states. I am currently doing a paper on Chechnya & the culture, thank you so very much for this in-sight. My life has been anything but an easy road, but I am thrown back by seeing all the beautiful faces of all the brave women, children & men and I will forever keep them all in my prayers. Is there any legal way a civilian can get a KTO card? Or any other permit to visit Chechnya?

I had a few problems as to be expected.
Thanks for your comments.I drove through Beslan but didnt get a chance to see the memorial or the school.Next time perhaps.

nicely written…i was just in vladik back in december 2006 – my mom used to work for DRC validkavkaz. you’ve portrayed the region well–i would have liked to read more about nazran and grozny as i never set foot there during my visit, and also, of the beslan memorial by the airport. i assume you are a man because i was constantly besieged with “why aren’t you married yet” comments (i look 20, but am older) and it sounds like they let you off the hood pretty easy enjoyed your article…-marianne
